It has already been reported that Video gaming giant Nintendo is looking into the possibility of copyright infringement over the use of emulators running various Nintendo games on high-end Smartphones and other unauthorized hardware.
As most of you should know by now, Nokia N900 is powerful enough to process and run numerous emulators including, Nintendo's Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, NES and SNES and allows you to easily play numerous oldie Nintendo console based or arcade games directly on your phone as it is clearly shown in the video recently published on official Nokia blog.
Unfortunately, Nokia N900 is unauthorized hardware and according to Nintendo,: Introduction of emulators created to play illegally copied Nintendo software represents the greatest threat to date to the intellectual property rights of video game developers. As is the case with any business or industry, when its products become available for free, the revenue stream supporting that industry is threatened. Such emulators have the potential to significantly damage a worldwide entertainment software industry which generates over $15 billion annually, and tens of thousands of jobs.
Nintendo’s senior UK PR manager Robert Saunders said: "We take rigorous steps to protect our IP and our legal team wille xamine this to determine if any infringement has taken place."
